“Coding is for the kids”…no literally.
YourStory feature: LINK
Coding is slowly becoming a must-have skill in this digital era.
In fact, the National Education Policy 2020 further boosted the introduction of coding among kids amidst COVID-19 led lockdowns.
However, one of the primary problems these kids faced was the availability of technology.
As a solution to such problems, CuriousJr, a mobile-based coding platform, was launched by IIT BHU graduates Amit Shekhar (CIV’14), Janishar Ali, and Mridul Ranjan in September 2020.
The founders believe that learning concepts in one’s mother tongue are always more efficient, so the platform plans to offer courses in vernacular languages.
“We realised that 88% of the 270 million children in K-12 in India do not have access to a PC/laptop. That’s why we focused on building India’s first mobile-based code learning platform for K-12 in vernacular languages.”
-Mridul Ranjan Sahu
Furthermore, considering the target users to be school-going kids, the founders have tried to gamify the platform where one can learn, practice, build and publish on the app itself, thereby getting a complete learning experience.
With over 500,000 downloads, the platform caters to 165,000 students learning monthly on the app, who have created over 300,000 apps on the CuriousJr App Store so far!
